I dare, means Ι do something, thus act. In every historical record, daring is the one, who acted in one direction, without mentioning the result of this action, because the value of audacity, is hidden foremost in action and secondarily, in the result.
Consequently, dare…what ? It is up to you.
The main theme of TEDxUniversityofMacedonia 2014 was Ithacas. Inspired by Ithaca by C.P. Cavafis we call our generation to wonder about their own Ithacas. Our journey starts from the first time that we face the world. We explore the universe that spreads around us. We connect with people that we meet. We try to innovate and make the difference. We believe in a better world. We aim to set a goal and to achieve it. Our goal is our destination. Every new goal is the beginning of a journey.
The theme of TEDxUniversityofMacedonia 2015 is called “the blind spot” and focuses on the different perspectives that an individual can discover, should he observes thoroughly everything around , should he looks behind the scenes. Everything in the world has two sides, two dimensions and hides more than a naked eye can catch.
The theme of TEDxUniversityofMacedonia 2016 is “Gravity of thoughts”.
Gravity, this restraining force that applies to all of us, and thoughts that compose each individual’s unique and original personality. The combination which allows us to remain ourselves, while living in harmony with others.
Each thought has a distinct nature. A different perspective, a different background and a different complexion. With this distinct identity, it gains its own power, both for us and for the others. It is gravity, though, that regulates the environment, sets the context and creates the reasons due to which our thoughts perish and cease to exist, or blossom, develop and finally, materialize. This is how “gravity of thoughts” is born. Gravity is what influences us, makes us who we really are.
All of the above compose Gravity of Thoughts. TEDxUniversityofMacedonia 2016 intends to make you reconsider concepts taken for granted ‘til now. It triggers concern for ideas, which might made you immune ‘til now. And besides, wondering and questioning isn’t what declares a restless spirit?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TTEDED-Ed. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world get help translating their wishes into action; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
Inspired by the TED mission, “Ideas worth spreading”, some students from University of Macedonia in 2013 decided that this belief must be implemented in Thessaloniki, for all of its university students to live. TEDxUniversityofMacedonia, in these 4 years of its short but meaningful existence, created a strong community willing to discuss and create new ideas for a better future for everyone. By maintaining the true TED experience, while bringing interesting idea bearers who want to spread their thoughts, we try to promote and to encourage what we believe the most. To spread the ideas for a better place.
